Jim Holcomb, DVMJim Holcomb, DVM/Owner

Dr. Holcomb is the owner of Hill Country Animal Hospital and Pet Lodge and has been proudly providing the highest quality of veterinary medicine in Austin since June 1993. Born and raised in Austin, Dr. Holcomb attended Texas A&M University as both an undergraduate and a veterinary student where he earned a B.S. in Animal Science and was then awarded his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1978. In addition to general medicine, Dr. Holcomb has particular interest in dermatology and surgery.

A member of the Texas Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association and the California Veterinary Medical Association, Dr. Holcomb is also very involved with his church as well as participating in Community Bible Study.

In the little spare time he has left, Dr. Holcomb enjoys SCUBA diving and jogging. He and his wife are the proud parents of their son Taylor and daughter Haley. Taylor is a practicing lawyer in Austin and his wife Erin teaches middle school here as well. Haley is attending graduate school and working at Hill Country Animal Hospital. The Holcomb family is completed by their two dogs, Bachelor and Girlfriend, two cats, Major and Tooms, and an African Grey named Peanut.

Clay Bernard, DVMClay Bernard, DVM

Dr. Clay Bernard is a General Practitioner who began practicing at Hill Country Animal Hospital in June of 2010.

A native of Natchitoches, Louisiana, Dr. Bernard attended Louisiana State University for his undergraduate studies. In December, 2000, he graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Zoology. Soon after, he entered Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine and graduated with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2005.

From June, 2005, to June, 2007, Dr. Bernard practiced at West Charleston Animal Hospital and then Southlake Crossing Animal Clinic until May of 2010. His areas of particular professional interest include surgery, behavioral medicine and internal medicine.

At home, Dr. Bernard has a Lab mix named Staley and a Terrier mix named Baker. When not working or caring for his dogs, he enjoys hiking, camping, playing guitar and reading.
